Hart Equipment Good to Go in Colorado
published 02/28/2008
AUSTIN, Texas - Colorado Secretary of State Mike Coffman announced, today, that Hart InterCivic's paper ballot scanners, Ballot Now and eScan, are certified for use in the State of Colorado, allowing the 47 counties in Colorado that use the Hart Voting System to run elections with their systems, with security use conditions in place.
County Clerks and Recorders with the Hart Voting System in Colorado have been working for the recertification of the Hart system for over two months. These users have continuously pointed out the Hart paper systems' accuracy and proven track records, including numerous audits and recounts.
The Secretary of State's official announcement explains, "After listening to public testimony on February 21 and February 26 and reviewing the draft procedures, Coffman concluded that the draft process would be ineffectual and unnecessary."
"We are thrilled that we are in a position to continue to serve the County Clerks and Recorders, and the voters in the State of Colorado, with accurate, secure, and accessible election solutions," remarked Phillip Braithwaite, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Hart InterCivic's elections division.
