Election Data eXchange (EDX)

An XML Standard for Election Data

Hart InterCivic, a leader in providing electronic voting technology, has released a public XML standard for exchange of critical information required to effectively manage election data.

We have titled this standard "Election Data eXchange" (EDX), and we've made it publicly available.  EDX is the first open published election data standard for elections in the United States.

Hart InterCivic submits the EDX standard available on this website for possible use in formulating a proposed standard, IEEE 1622, for the secure exchange of election data. Hart InterCivic hereby grants others permission to use, reproduce, distribute and modify the EDX standard for purposes of furthering and implementing IEEE 1622, and waives all copyright interests in the EDX standard if adopted, in whole or in part, as part of IEEE 1622.
